NAPOLEON WRECKS
Orient wreck
- Found at depth of 14 m. about 300m. east to Nelson island of Abou Kir .
- The preserved area is 35m. long by 15m. wide.
- The site revealed a homogenously preserved wreck which shows a lot of preserved elements such as :
* 4 bilge pumps around the site of the mail mast
* the remain of the rudder
* Significant concentration of Gold coins ( 230 pieces )
taken out ( coins from Malta , Spain , Portugal , France , Egypt , Istanbul , Austria and Venice ).
* Numerous anchors, scattered around Orient ( which allow study of French and English vessels during the Naval fight )
* Big French cannons , Cannon balls, 100s of small bullets
