Underwater city of HERACLEON
Located at a distance of 4 km. from the cost of Abou Kir bay, at the same altitude of the fort of Abou Kir, at depth of 8m., covering an area of 120 Hectars showing a city, with its buildings, lying between a secondary brach and a lake, and a pharaonic style temple. The harbor basin is constructed from huge lime stone blocks. The temple housed 3 colossi carved on red granite for Ptolemy & his queen, the God personifying the flooding of the Nile.
OTHER FINDINGS
Stone monuments of varying sizes, ritual ustinsils and bronze figuries, Gold and bronze coins and pottery. Most of these art crafts belong to the span of the 4th. to the 1st. centuries BC. and they enhance the prosperity of the temple at the time of the PTOLEMY.
